Herein, we show a new regime where drops 'appear' to boil on certain textures but could be just exploding because of hydrodynamic instabilities becoming dominant (shown through our cover art here by the very talented Mr. Rafeeque Mavoor that has been selected for the supplementary cover for the journal). Our results suggest that using nanotextures or smaller spacings may not be a good choice for enhancing spray-boiling heat transfer...
